Coconut Times was founded in 1985 by artist and avid surfer Scott Harrington. It was sold to Royette Tarry Shepherd of Hooper’s Restaurant who then sold it to Tammy Trattner Knowles. In 1999, the paper was sold to Brenda Golden, who has continued the tradition of featuring original artwork on the cover and the exclusive feature called Barhopping, written by bartenders from all the top clubs and restaurants in the area.

Coconut Times is dedicated to fun in the sun and after dark. Coco Nights, written by editor Brenda Golden, provides music news and an inside track to some of our entertainers, as well as a guide to who’s playing around town. Coconut Timesis widely distributed from Fenwick Island to Ocean City, West Ocean City, Berlin and Ocean Pines with a circulation of 30,000 at summer peak to 15,000 during off-season. The paper is published on Fridays, weekly, from Springfest through October and monthly in the off-season.
