Soprano's Pizza featuring Polock Johnny's
Jimmy, Lindsey, Steve, Alex, and Sean are proud to invite you to Soprano’s Pizza, which stands out from other downtown restaurants.
One restaurant stands out from the rest in downtown Ocean City—Soprano’s Pizza. Located on the corner of South Baltimore Avenue and Caroline Street, the restaurant is just a few steps from the foot of the Route 50 Bridge. What makes this restaurant stand out from other boardwalk eateries? Homemade food, authentic atmosphere, and awesome location put Soprano’s Pizza in its own league.
Family owned and operated, Soprano’s Pizza is celebrating its 10th year of business. Clean and spacious, the dining room features incredible larger-than-life murals on the walls painted by local artist Derek Dvorak. Framed photographs from famous gangster movies, such as The Godfather, Casino, and Scarface, invite you and your family to enjoy a meal alongside Al Pacino, Robert Di Nero, Marlon Brando, and more. Many of us go to the boardwalk to people watch, and Soprano’s Pizza offers the perfect vantage point for watching the hustle and bustle of sidewalk activity from the quiet comfort of your own table. Outside seating is also available.
Soprano’s Pizza serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All of the ingredients are in-house made, from the zesty pizza sauce and the shredded Mozzarella cheese, to the fresh dough that is hand rolled per order. When I visited Soprano’s Pizza this week with my hungry mom, Nancy, our courteous server, Lindsey, greeted us the moment we walked through the door. She ensured that we were well taken care of throughout our entire dining experience. Mom, who is unfamiliar with downtown Ocean City, was greatly impressed with Soprano’s Pizza. I’m happy to say that the restaurant surpassed her high expectations.
Nancy ordered the homemade Spaghetti for dinner, and I selected a specialty pizza—Greek Pizza with black olives, fresh tomatoes, sweet onions, heaps of feta cheese, and spices. Nancy devoured her Spaghetti, which is piled high and covered with homemade meat sauce. She rates her meal with top accolades. Served on top of a pizza stand at our table, my Greek Pizza caught the eye of customers as they entered the restaurant.
“That looks really good. I want that,” remarked one lady as she passed our table. In fact, a family of four from Washington, DC, was seated next to us, and they explained that it was their fourth meal at Soprano’s Pizza in one week, and they rate the pizza as the best in Maryland.
On the Pasta menu, Spaghetti and Baked Ziti are topped with your choice of meatballs, Italian Sausage, meat sauce, or a combination of all three. The Baked Ziti is topped with Mozzarella and oven baked. Other heartwarming pasta dishes are Manicotti, which is stuffed with ricotta cheese and oven baked with sauce and mozzarella cheese, and Ravioli, which is filled with mozzarella, ricotta, and Italian herbs. All of Soprano’s pasta dishes are served with freshly baked garlic bread.
Soprano’s pizzas are made with homemade sauce and homemade dough, rolled to order. New York style thin crust pies are available in 14-inches or 18-inches with delectable toppings like ham, bacon, peppers, onions, salami, sausage, mushroom, tomatoes, pepperoni, black olives, and grilled chicken. Specialty Pizzas include Greek Pizza, Veggie Pizza, and White Pizza with fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone, and ricotta. I’m looking forward to trying The Soprano specialty pizza, which is a delicious concoction of pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham, green pepper, and onion.
The tasty entrées at Soprano’s Pizza include Chicken Parmesan and Meatball Parmesan—homemade meatballs in tomato sauce, with melted mozzarella. Eggplant Parmesan is comprised of slices of breaded eggplant stuffed with ricotta cheese and topped with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. You may also order Calzones, Strombolis, and pizza by the slice.
Cold subs at Soprano’s Pizza include Turkey Breast, Italian Cold Cut, and Honey Baked Ham and Cheese. Hot Subs abound with selections such as Philly Cheese Steak, Meatball Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan, Italian Sausage, Cheese Burger, Chicken Cheese Steak, and Pizza Sub. All subs are available in 7-inch or 14-inch orders. Sandwiches include Hamburger, Cheeseburger, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Plus, Soprano’s Pizza serves up one of my favorite foods—the classic Gyro.
Nancy also ordered a Caesar Salad to accompany her meal. The salad is large enough to eat as a full entrée, and piled high with crispy croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese. Chef Salad is prepared with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, ham, turkey, salami, cheese, and croutons. Greek Salad and Garden Salad are also available.
From the Starters and Sides menu, I recommend the Garlic Bread, which is thick-sliced and topped with olive oil and garlic butter. Chicken Tenders, Onion Rings, Fries, and Hot Wings are just a few more appetizers at Soprano’s Pizza.
Every day Soprano’s Pizza presents an irresistible breakfast menu, beginning at 8 a.m. Try the Greek Omelet, which is overstuffed with feta, tomatoes, black olives, and onions. Three Cheese Omelet and Western Omelet are crowd pleasers, and all omelets include three eggs, home fries, and toast with jelly. Pancakes, French Toast, Belgian Waffles, and Muffins are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. A combination of egg sandwiches, home fries, bagels with cream cheese, bacon, sausage, ham, and scrapple complete the delicious breakfast selections at Soprano’s. Most of the breakfast meals are priced under $5. The restaurant also offers a kids menu, and adults are invited to play Keno.
When nearby Polock Johnny’s was displaced by a fire a few years ago, Soprano’s owner, Steve, dedicated space in his restaurant to host his father’s business. Today, Soprano’s Pizza continues to feature Polock Johnny’s, with father and son working together. Polish Sausage, Italian Sausage, All Beef Dogs, Kosher Dogs, and Corn Dogs are all available with fried onions, green peppers, chili, and cheese at Polock Johnny’s within Soprano’s Pizza.
While fried food and junk food are available along the boardwalk, you’ll only find one restaurant in downtown Ocean City that serves homemade pizza, pasta, Italian entrées, and subs and sandwiches. Soprano’s Pizza is the best of the best, transforming ordinary boardwalk food into an extraordinary dining experience.
