Hear Fuzzbox Piranha at the annual Jammin’ For A Cure at Seacrets Friday, October 9.
Boy Howdy Music Fans! Wow, what a week! Bike Week on Delmarva was a huge success! The music alone would’ve been worth the trip. Bands like Jettstream, Tranzfusion, Rockett 88 and Crossroads walked us through the paces of good classic rock covers. Tribute acts like Live Wire (AC/DC) and Tuesday’s Gone (Lynyrd Skynyrd) brought satisfaction to our inner (rockin’) child. Thanks to Micky Fins, M.R. Ducks and The Caribbean for hosting The Pompous Pie band for Bike Week ‘09. We all had a blast playing to big crowds all in black.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars and save the date: Fri., Oct. 9th, for Jammin’ for a Cure hosted by Seacrets in de club. The nice folks at 49th St. in Jamaica USA were kind enough to grant The American Cancer Society the nite club on a Friday evening. The entertainment this year has charted sort of a bluesy course. Chris English, master of the slide guitar, will kick things off at 5 pm. Our own Pompous Pie will que up somewhere in the middle and this year’s headliner will be Fuzzbox Piranha. Silent auctions, live auctions, door prizes, 50/50 raffles, food donated by many area restaurants (including Seacrets) and live music is all yours for a small donation at the door. This is money well spent for a Friday happy hour to benefit breast cancer. Donations will fund research, awareness and support of survivors. Most anyone has had their life or the life of someone they know or love affected by breast cancer. I am one and my mother is with us today because of efforts like these. Guys, this is no ‘girlie’ event. Save the ta’ ta’s, save 2nd base and I (heart) boobs are among the house mottos. And, hey, when you like boobs as much as I do, your choice in attendance is clear cut! Hope to see all of you on Friday, Oct. 9th, Seacrets at 5 pm.
It’s hard to believe Sunfest is already upon us. Summer ‘09 really did fly by like a concord jet! Pigskin fever is already infecting The Shore so don’t forget your favorite Sports Bars for gridiron action. My favorite spots for this activity include BJ’s on the Water (75th St.), The 707 Sports Bar (West OC), Smitty McGee’s (Rt. 54) and The Greene Turtle West (Rt. 611 West OC). Don’t forget Ponzetti’s on 145th St. and The Seacrets Nite Club on 49th St. All of the above have food and drink speicals during the games. Go cheer on your favorite franchise this weekend for the NFL week 3!
This Friday Pompous Pie will perform one last time at The Caribbean Pool Bar for the ‘09 season. Showtime is at 7:30 pm down on 2nd St. and the boards (tonight) Sept. 25.
Next week we’ll be out of town for Jake and Al’s in Lusby, Md. (Fri.) and The Brick House in Shady Side on Sat. If you happen to be in that part of the world, we’d love to see you.
Enjoy your Sunfest weekend and be careful driving around out there. Be safe. ‘Til next week, Tah!  – Marco Ink
