Sonic Notes
The Wes Davis Band will be among the musical guests performing at the 6th Annual Jam for Autism Sunday at the Greene Turtle West.
Boy Howdy Music Fans! Just in case you maybe hadn’t noticed by the time this issue is published, it’s time for Cruisin’ U.S.A! These classic chariots of steel will roll down Coastal Hwy. this weekend in all their glory! Gear-heads and onlookers from all over the Mid-Atlantic region gather to compare notes and accessories for these classic cars. Ocean City looks like a townwide car show when this rally is in town! The only real advice one could give: stay alert and put your best defensive driving skills to work! Ear plugs optional!
Another Ocean City tradition will be again held this Sunday, 5/17, at the Greene Turtle West, Rt. 611, from 1-5 p.m. The 6th Annual Jam for Autism begins with the Wes Davis Band at 1 p.m. Other acts include Full Circle and Pompous Pie. Lots of other music types will be on hand to strut their stuff. The room will be chock full of silent auction goodies of every variety. A live auction for larger ticket items, 50/50 raffles, door prizes and an All-American Cookout Buffet are all yours for the $10 entry fee. Happy Hour drink specials are available all day thanks to the Greene Turtle West. This event is a local grass-roots approach to help children and their families to both understand and combat the issues involving child autism. This is also one of the social events of the season hosted by DJ Batman and brought to you by the Worcester Co. Autistic Children’s support Group. A casual attitude trumps all. Shorts, T-shirts, and flip-flops are encouraged! We’ll see you all on Sunday at 1 p.m. and we thank you in advance!
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through May and those outdoor places are really starting to heat up. Live music is on tap every weekend at M.R. Ducks so look for Pompous Pie next Saturday, 5/23, on the dock at Talbot St. pier. Mickey Fins in West O.C. at the Fishing Center on Rt. 50 has live tunes on multiple days including Off the Boat on Sundays and this Saturday, 5/16, Pompous Pie is on the dock at 5 p.m. Fager’s Island Deck Parties are heating up each Monday with DJs on the deck starting at 5 p.m. This Monday it’s local classic rock favorites Tranzfusion inside at 9:30 p.m. Come west toward the bay on 59th St. to the Fager’s Island entertainment mecca for a good party each week!
A huge “Thank you” to the public at large from the American Cancer Society for making last Friday’s Relay for Life such a big success at Frontier Town. The campground was packed full of supporters thanks to cooperative weather conditions. Also a big “Thanks” to the folks at Frontier Town for such a valiant and integral effort!
Don’t forget the Beach at Seacrets is now open for ‘09! Jim Long and crew are back to thrill the touristas at the bays edge on 49th. Jerk Chicken, Rum Runners, a great view and great tunes! It’s all good! No problem mon at Seacrets Jamaica USA!
Look for Pompous Pie this and every Friday at the Caribbean Pool Bar on 2nd St. in the Plim Plaza Hotel at 7:30 p.m and a new item on our list is Wednesday deck parties at Micky Fins on Rt. 50, 5 p.m. on 5/20.
Enjoy those classic cars, but be cautious and party safely!
Till next week, Tah!! – Marco Ink
