James Gallagher & Off the Boat will perform Sunday at Micky Fins for the annual Bull & Oyster Roast to benefit Worcester Co. Youth & Family Counseling.
Boy Howdy Music Fans! For a bar/restuarant/entertainment paper such as the Coconut Times, this issue is almost a Superbowl or greatest hits version of our regular fare. We bid an Erin Go Brah and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to one and all. We wish you a fun yet safe and trouble free version of this adopted American Holiday!
Hopefully the Luck of the Irish will assist our Parade’s Grand Marshall, Buck Mann and The Irish American Club to keep Mother Nature from raining on our parade! The forecast so far dictates we may just need that luck. James Gallagher and Off the Boat will perform at the grandstand in the 45th St. Village for tomorrow’s (3/13/10) Parade After Party. Driving all the snakes out of Ocean City could prove to be a tall order!
Anyone frequenting OC for a while knows all about the obligatory hot spots with Irish names to blow the froth off a couple pints and a sing song. This I like. It’s a rite of passage through yet another winter. Since (actual) St. Patrick’s is a Wednesday, many places are angling for double duty that day as well!
BJ’s on the Water (75th St.) is offering up Mc Teenage Rust and the Rustettes on Wed. for Happy Hour (5pm). It’s safe to say some fun will ensue! Plus they always have the Chesapeake Caldonis Bagpipe Band come through after the parade. BJ’s features good food, a great view and duck feedings every day! Free WIFI, free popcorn, free joke tellings also every day!
The Greene Turtle West on Rt. 611 is throwing their annual “St. Practice Day Party” on Sat. (3/13) with a whole array of Irish food and drink specials. Party starts at 11, features DJ Skip Dixxon at 2pm and The Mc Electric Company at 9pm! Mc Opposite Directions takes the stage on Wed. 5-10pm and the same food and drink specials all apply all day!
Smitty McGee’s goes all out on Rt. 54, West Fenwick Ireland featuring DJ Wax at 1pm on Parade Day. Randy Lee Ashcraft tunes up with The Salt Water Cowboys at 4pm. Randy Lee plays at 4pm and Murphy’s Law (awesome) starts at 8pm on Wed. 3/17. Green beer and Irish food deals all day, both days!
At O.C. Fishing Center on Rt. 50. Micky Fins is open for action this weekend with the outdoor (Boater’s) bar open for 2010. Exciting things are happening with the new skipper, Gary Beach at the helm. Their traditional Irish Christmas Bull & Oyster Roast (to benefit Worc. Co. Youth & Family Counseling) will be held Sun., March 14, with music by James Gallagher & Off the Boat, 1-6pm.
On 28th St and Coastal HW, Coins Pub offers corned beef, cabbage & potatoes for only $4.75 on Sat. And they have the Craythur Irish Band from 1-6pm. Half price entree nights on Tues. and Sun. continue and Prime Rib night (only $13.99) is every Wed.
Remember, the Morley Hall at Seacrets (49th and the bay) is open post parade on Sat with DJ Batman at noon and Jim Long at 5pm. And Irish music at the Tiki bar with the String Dusters and a visit from the OC Pipe Band. Always an impressive shindig.
All of these things add up to just one: Spring is just around the corner, so are shorts and T-shirts and many more issues of the Coconut Times. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead early Sun. morning. True, we lose an hour of sleep, but that’s a small price to pay for an hour of sun! Again, have fun, but stay cool in the Madness we call March! I hope to see you all around the campfire real soon!
Til next time, Tah!! Marco
