Boy Howdy Music Fans! Greetings from the streets of Ocean City! Streets that are just now recovering from last weekend’s Cruiser madness, no doubt! From people I’ve spoken to, we broke some good sales records around town for Cruisin ‘09! In spades. This holiday will bring us more of the same hopefully and real soon comes June. Firemen and June Bugs (is this term now politically incorrect?) OK “Seniors”, the slogan “Play It Safe usually comes to mind but especially after the horrible traffic accidents that occurred in our area last week. Please don’t drink and drive. Negotiating OC traffic is hard enough sober on these big weekends. Expect sobriety checkpoints around the County!
    The folks at BJ’s on the Water (75th St.) assure us that they are locked and loaded with good music this week. Fri., Sat. & Sun. The Moodswingers take the stage with special guest Lauren Glick! The Wed. ‘Deck’ party continues on with Lower Case Blues at 5pm (5/27). These boys are sure to rock the house with their brand of funky blues guitar music! Weekend shows start at 9pm and don’t miss the daily duck feedings at 1pm every day. Lunch, dinner, late night fare, generous cocktails and good live tunes is what BJ’s is all about!
    Thanks to all involved with a very successful benefit for autistic children out at The Greene Turtle West last Sunday. This (6th annual) event rocked thanks to the efforts of the Turtle management and staff, sponsors and patrons that are almost too many to count and some local (and not so local) musicians! Wes Davis, The Full Circle Band and Pompous Pie were our go-to-guys and girls. Canadian alternative country act Kim Jarrett blessed us with a great set also. We lucked out! This husband and wife team just happened to be in the area. I gave their CD a listen also and am quite impressed. Her voice is a little Jewel and a little Nico Case. The album is entitled ‘Thinking of You’ and can be found at kimjarrett.com. Thanks to our friends from ‘The Great White North’! Thanks also to Batman for helping with microphone duties!
    Wow did we ever have a blast playing at Micky Fins last Sat. Pompous Pie played there for the first of many shows there this summer. Chief and the gang run a good show and they appear to be catching on quickly. Look for Full Circle there over the weekend and on Sun. it’s the Wes Davis Band.
    M.R. Ducks is firing up some rockin’ live music with Mary Lou and The Untouchables on both Sun. and Mon. This is always a winning choice and don’t miss the first Pompous Pie appearance for ’09 on Sat. (5/23) to get your Sat. happy hour on at 4pm!
    Pompous Pie is also rockin’ The Caribbean Pool Bar down on 2nd St. this and every Fri. 7:30 at The Plim Plaza Hotel. Love to see you there on 5/22!
