Playing upbeat, high-energy original music, Fat Daddy Has Been spread positive vibes to the crowd at Pickles Pub on Thursday night.
We saw some really big fish on the scales at White Marlin Open last week, and I had more fun times dancing with friends to the sounds of Zion Reggae on the docks in front of the Reel Inn dockbar, headquarters of the fishing tournament. This week brings the Dub Custom Car Show to Ocean City’s Convention Center, along with deejays and celebrity appearances. Also on the calendar this week are Passafire, DJ Wax, Can’t Hang, Tim Cyphers Duo, Kristen & The Noise, Gary The Bushmater, The Cheaters, and much more. Read on to find out where these tremendous talents will appear.
Little Cleon & The Dreamers will mark the closing festivities for the White Marlin Open at the Reel Inn on 14th Street at 5 pm on Friday, August 6. A few blocks away, at Coconuts at Castle in the Sand, DJ Wax shakes things up at 6 pm. Regionally popular party band, Kristen and the Noise, takes the stage at Seacrets. The Steer Inn Tavern on Racetrack Road is unstoppable when it comes to booking original bands, and this Friday is no exception. Gary Brown “The Bushmaster” brings his rock/blues/funk to the stage at 9 pm.
Do you want to spend a day floating on the rafts at Seacrets? This weekend is prime time to do just that, as Johnny Bling rocks the bayfront beach at 6 pm on Saturday. Other sizzling hot pool bars in the area include Coconuts, where Tim Cyphers Duo plays acoustic rock at 2 pm on Saturday, and Rio Grande Café & Tiki Bar, where Kevin Poole performs at 5 pm on Saturday. If you prefer to party in a less scantily clad atmosphere, check out Fager’s Island on Saturday. Opposite Directions plays at 5:30 and Bigg Romeo rocks the indoor stage at 10 pm. DJ Wax is slated to spin at Pickles on Saturday night, following the UFC fight. Also on Saturday night, the Lime Green Band returns to the swanky Johnny’s Pizza Pub on 56th Street,
Pickles has been going off all summer with amazing bands. Tim Cyphers entertains the ladies on Sunday nights, CandiFlip rocks the crowds on Tuesday nights, and Colossal Fossil Sauce and Lower Class Citizens bring the heavy to Wednesday nights at Pickles. This week only, mark your calendar for one of my favorite original bands, The Cheaters, on Thursday night at Pickles. I’m so excited for this show on August 12, and I’m hoping to see the return of many familiar faces that were in the crowd the last time I saw The Cheaters at Seacrets.
Of course, Seacrets has seriously owned this summer too, presenting its awesome Summer Concert Series. Last week, I rediscovered the jam band sounds of Rusted Root. Do you remember their big hit in the 90s, “Send Me on My Way"? With Bryan Russo showcasing his talent as the opening act, this show was one for the ages. Next up for Seacrets Summer Concert Series is Passafire, a rock reggae band that will perform for free on Monday, Aug. 9.
What’s going on for Sunday Funday? On August 8, Fager’s hosts the Beatles tribute band, Beatlemania Again, at 9:30. The following night, Fools & Horses takes the stage for the world famous Monday Night Deck Party at Fager’s. Also on Sunday Funday, DJ Batman heads the ceremonies at Micky Fins in West Ocean City at 4 pm, and Johnny Mojo rocks the uptown crowd at Rio Grande Café & Tiki Bar.
We have so much good, live music in Ocean City, it’s hard to keep up, but I’m not trying to slow down, are you? Have a wonderful week, everyone.
