The first volley of summer was fired and everyone is still standing. No rain for Friday, Saturday and Sunday so no one had any complaints. It is going to be a great summer here at the beach with plenty of sun and cool ocean breezes to make every day and every evening perfect.
    We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Chef Paul Bryan who just joined the Horizon’s team as evening chef for our restaurant. We are all thrilled to have him leading our excellent crew of Derik, Marc, Janet and Freddie. Rob, our morning Chef and kitchen manager, can be seen every Sunday morning preparing everyone’s omelets. Rich is at the Raw Bar in Breakers Pub shucking oysters and clams Wednesday thru Sunday. Stop by and let him fix you up with a plate of our local favorites.
    A big get well wish goes to Eunice and Eddie. The Ocean Club is just not the same withoutout them. We  miss them both and are holding their spot. Joanne graduated this past week from Salisbury University. We are so proud of her career choice. Joanne definitely has made the right decision.
    Arizona is back here playing, so expect the Ocean Club and Lenny’s Beach Bars to be packed. The band ROCKS! Have a great week in OC and stop by and make new friends.

    A big welcome to all our visitors and summer residents. It’s great having you back, and if this is your first season with us, get plenty of sunscreen and have a wonderful time. Danny Dolan and his buddies will be playing back to back on the beach and in the nightclub this weekend. That will be double the sounds and double the fun. You can’t miss them. They are First Class, all the way!
    The beach grill, the pool and deck bars, as well as our indoor and outside pools, will be open. Everyone is welcome!  Carla, our concierge, is your initial greeter when you come through our doors. Earlier risers, which would be those of you who get up before 2pm, will have a “good morning” from Lisa and the morning restaurant staff. Lisa makes sure to have a terrific start to your day.  Lisa and her crew make the sun come out even on those few overcast days just by their smiles!
    Say “Hi” to Chuck and his deck-mates while you are here. We have the buckets of rum and a new house margarita for you to try. Ms. Trudi will be in Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant & Ocean Club Nightclub greeting old and new friends alike. So another “Hi” goes to her.  Tom and Yvonne are returning from a whirlwind tour of the Deep South.  Lori had a big, big birthday this past week, although I still think she needs to be carded.

    The sounds and sights of summer… surf, palm trees, and weekend traffic. Everyone was bringing Mom down for Mothers’ Day weekend. It was great seeing so many familiar faces… Cindy and Roy, Rob’s family, Marge and Jennings were joined by Martin and Desiree. Amanda had her first Mother’s Day with Arianna and Diane’s daughter, Desiree, who is graduating from West Point next week, sent her mom roses. Byron and his new and lovely wife Sydney made a surprise visit from New York. Mavis, on the other hand, actually left town and joined Lynn and Mike for a family dinner in Baltimore.
    It was a great weekend and we even saw the sun for a day. Mother Nature can be such a tease. The musical notes of Danny, Sadik, Adrian and Dennis from First Class will be heard through Memorial Weekend, another sure sign that summer is here.

    Not only do spring showers bring May flowers, it also brings Chuck, the Ocean Club bartender/Key West transplant back to Ocean City and the Clarion. Everyone who wants to see Chuck can do the meet and greet at Lenny’s Beach bar and grill. Chuck is the Deck and Pool bar manager this season, and we are thrilled to have him back. So are Hazel, Marsha, Carmel, Marilyn and Frank, Tina and Denny and friends too sweet and too many to mention … Chuck has his arms wide open for a big hug to all of you.
    Wendy was in town this weekend having a great time dancing to the favorite and new sounds of Danny and First Class.  If you missed them, the band will be headlining the Memorial Day Weekend, on the beach and in the Ocean Club nightclub. The nightclub is also featuring the DJ sounds from Rox Enterprises. You will love the new sound 3 nights a week with the DJ playing for Ladies’ Night on Thursdays and the weekends, Fridays and Saturdays.
    Tom started his 70th birthday celebration on Saturday and I understand it will last for 2 weeks. Good luck, Tom and Happy Birthday. My good buddy, Gary, friend and Executive Chef at the OC Convention Center stopped by to see how everything is going uptown. I told him we are all doing great!  Pattie flew in from Utah this weekend. She and Darlene are looking absolutely sensational. The club was packed, the dance floor busy, and everyone was having a great time. Summer cannot be far away!
