What can I say, another beautiful week if you include the occasional summer downpour we had. If anyone asks, that was for the local farmers. We do share the land with them and they definitely needed some rain. Danny and the gang that make up First Class are back playing on the beach and in the nightclub. The band is an Ocean City favorite so come on over, buy them a drink and watch them do what they do best!
I am sad to say that Alexis, Liz and Lauren are ending their first summer at the beach. They are the first to go, and will definitely be missed. There was a fabulous lady celebrating a birthday this week. Kathy is one of the few women of Ocean City who gets incredibly more beautiful every time she graces the Ocean Club. Happy Birthday, have a wonderful year.
I know everyone has heard the all new sound system in the Ocean Club. Next up will be the new lights surrounding the stage. If will be up and running very soon. Sally and Charlie were here this past week celebrating a wedding anniversary that they happen to share with their best friends, Ruth and Bobby. It was great to have them all here for the pre-vacation mini-vacation.
I like that idea, and am trying to block some time myself for one of those pre-vacation mini vacations. I think it is a wonderful idea and is sure to catch on. And when you plan yours, make it happen in Ocean City. It’s definitely my kind of town!

Another beautiful week at the beach. How great is that? We used to have a bartender here, Stick, who always told everyone “Tomorrow folks, it’s going to be 78 and sunny. Have a great day!” Stick said that every day, year round. There’s something to be said for optimism.
Shout outs to Lauren, the chef of our beach grill, and her crew: Paul, Tore, Andre, Maria, Silvester and Andrea. They feed two bars, two pools and the beach in a space no bigger than most people’s closet. I guess that’s why they all work so well together. Also I want to say Happy Birthday to Andre. He survived a night out with the crew, and fared better than most of them. Quinn is back in the saddle. He was sorely missed (pun intended.) And that look on his face now, that’s not pain, it’s actually a smile. I’m not sure who wanted him back more, the staff, his wife or me, but welcome back, Quinn!
My very favorite red-head, Eunice, is back and as beautiful and vivacious as ever.  Mary has a new smile on her pretty face. I’m not sure if it’s one of relief or of anticipation; all I do know is it’s a very big smile, and I’m very happy for her. When you see her, be sure to ask.
Katrina was performing on the deck this past week. Always a lot of fun to see her and the rest of Synergy. She got Barbara and Buck, and Yvonne and Tom out in the middle of the week to hear her and the band. I am not sure they tried our new deck dance floor. If you haven’t seen it, or even better, been on it, you have to try it out.
Bonnie had a front row seat on the deck with Arizona’s Manny, Bea, Lee and Tony performing this week. Everyone was having a great time. It was just another day in our little piece of paradise.
Ocean City doesn’t get any better than this.

No complaints from me about the weather…hot, sunny… bring it on. That’s why we have the beach, swim in the ocean, and drink Piña Coladas. Speaking of which, a huge shout-out goes to Ellen, our #1 bartender. She is the best, even if I don’t always say it. A big hi-five is out to Ben, another great bartender. Ben has brought us the good (Jake), the bad (Brandon) and the beautiful (Cat). He also brought us Blake, but I am not sure what category he falls into ... just kidding!
Ashley is doing great as Chuck’s right hand. You can see her keeping a watch on the upper deck and indoor pool, or on the lower deck and outdoor pool. Ashley is keeping everyone in security-green moving. And she can do it all in heels. The only one that I know who can do all that is Ms. Trudi, who is one of the managers in Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant and the Ocean Club Nightclub, and she does it in higher heels. Experience, you just can’t beat it.
There was a very special birthday celebration earlier this week. Shannon turned twelve and was joined by her sister Karlie in making the occasion memorable. If you don’t believe how memorable it was, just ask her mom, Kay and Zoe. I also understand Joe celebrated a monumental birthday with Eddie and Bea. Reports are circulating that they all waited in line until the guest of honor was absolutely, definitely, 100% positively 50 even if it took 3 hours to do so. If you haven’t heard Dusty, our Ocean Club house DJ, then mark your calendar now. He plays Tuesday thru Saturday nights starting at 10pm, and appropriate dance foot-wear is suggested.

Not to jinks Mother Nature, but the sunny days of summer are here! Ocean City is sparkling with all the sand and suntan lotion in town. The 4th of July went off with a big bang, pun intended. The town was sold out, and the locals were busy keeping everyone happy.
I want to give a big shout-out to Quinn. He is recovering from back surgery. He is on the mend and hopefully following the doctor’s orders. Pat and Don were in this weekend celebrating a family get-together.  Mavis’ grandson, Chad, was here visiting before his deployment to Iraq.  We wish him well and a safe return. Marlene, Terri, Brandy and Zack – part of the Ocean Club gang - were seen hanging out at the new out-door pool. Rochelle has also been spotted entertaining friends at Lenny’s Deck Bar with her newest grandson, Sam, never far.  Jean and Joe were in town and enjoying the good food in Breakers’ Pub.  My very favorite red-head, Eunice, is back at the Ocean Club. As always, Eunice looked spectacular! Everyone missed her, and we are all so happy she is doing well. Preparations are under way for Shannon’s Birthday Bash. It’s going to be the party of the summer season.
The review will be posted next week. Happy Birthday, Shannon. Everyone at the Ocean Club wishes you happiness, health and lots of presents!

The hot days of summer are here! Put away everything but the bathing suits, beach towels and suntan lotion. You are now in Ocean City. Feel free to roam around the beach, or just relax in your favorite sand chair. Service has started. A very big shout-out to Beverly and Allan. They came down for a few days of R & R and had a great time. I hear they may not leave ‘til after Labor Day, no matter what Craig says. Their newly arrived grand-daughter, Isabella, will have to visit her grandparents here. How tough is that?
Danny is sporting his new summer cut. The ageless icon of Ocean City beach music can be heard day and night in our very popular Ocean Club Nightclub. Maurice, Ocean City’s very own Bicycle Man and documentary fame, has had numerous sightings around town. When you see our most famous employee riding his bike, give him a big wave. Maurice has reached the stature of Boardwalk Elvis, as the Bicycle Man. In case you missed it, he was the subject of a short documentary at this year’s Rehoboth Film Festival. Congratulations to Joanne and Ben. Both received their degree after completing their course of studies at one of Maryland’s top Universities. And yes, it was under the 5 year plan, standard now for all higher education institutions.
We are awaiting the annual arrival of Jackie and Maddie, the cutest Mother/Daughter pair to visit their Dad. They put a smile on everyone’s face as soon as they walk into a room. Maddie, the adoptive parent of a beautiful penguin, Blizzard, has written stories of his incredible adventures. There is nothing like July in O.C. and as Karen use to say it, it has only just begun!
