Ocean Club - 4/30/10
Posted On: Friday, April 30th, 2010
It was like “Old Home Week” at the Ocean Club Nightclub this week. So many familiar faces…winter hibernation is officially over. Pat and Ed from Philly were down for the weekend. It was great to spend some time with them. Beverly and Allan were here for a few days along with their son, Blaise and his wife Betsy. Blaise and Betsy are still on their honeymoon. They got married on our beach a couple of years ago and are still acting like a couple of newlyweds. Love and the salt air just does something to people.
Barbara and Buck were in for some dining and dancing, and were joined later by Yvonne and Tom for the dancing part. Paulette and Tony were here as well. It’s always wonderful to see them. They just light up a room. Lynn and Jim were in for dinner over the weekend and stayed for Danny Dolan and First Class. They always draw a crowd whenever they play here. You will be seeing and hearing a lot of them this summer on our beach.
The season is about to begin. May flowers bring palm trees, beach chairs and suntan lotion. It doesn’t get much better than that! See ya on the beach!

I definitely think the winter of 2010 has been relegated to a distant memory. It will become a “beach legend” with snow drifts 3 feet high and gale force winds of 90 mph. Oh what a winter it was!  And now it is all about blue skies, sunny days and balmy nights. Is everybody ready?
Ron and Breeda were in for dinner this weekend. It’s always great to see them. Mavis is back in town. We all missed her. Jean and Joe stopped by Breakers Pub. It will be good to see Lynn and Ken there also. They are the best neighbors we could ever ask for.
Shout outs go to Lisa and her breakfast crew in Horizons: Pat, Cathy, Mary Chris, Robert, Jessica, Nicole, Rob and Ian. I sometimes think they make the sun rise, they are here so early.  Cathy was in the Ocean Club; so were my buddies Eddie and Joe. I saw Wally in over the weekend as well. It was great having a bar full of friendly and familiar faces. It makes the weekend extra special….so on that note, I hope to see you here next week.

With a weekend like we are having now, how far can summer be? This is Ocean City at its finest. Before you know it palm trees will be swaying in the ocean breeze, and that fragrant aroma of suntan lotion will be everywhere. I know we are all ready for the change of seasons…
A shout-out goes to one of a very own, Shannon. She is recuperating from knee surgery. While some of us are enjoying the tranquility of the moment, it won’t be long before she will be back in action. We all love you, Shannon, but please give us a heads-up when you are approaching your 100% + recovery! We just want to be prepared and ready to sound the alarms. Also shout-outs go to two new staff members in Horizons. Please say hi to Meredith and Scottie when you are in for dinner or cocktails. A welcome back is in order for Doug, another Horizons server.
And again, Chuck Bryant has once again returned to the fold. You all remember Chuck as our Deck Manager last summer? Well, I have notified authorities in Florida that Chuck is here permanently.  He will be issued a “visitor’s pass”, not to exceed 10 days, if his presence is required “down there”. He is allowed one small traveling case – nothing else, and can not take more than $50.00 when visiting. Chuck is now officially a resident of Ocean City, and we are not going to let him go. Do I hear an “Amen” to that? I thought so. Welcome home, Chuck.
